Boho Headboard

Supplies: Bamboo trellis Zip ties or twist ties Cane webbing Hot glue gun and glue sticks 1/4"

Supplies:

Bamboo trellis

Zip ties or twist ties

Cane webbing

Hot glue gun and glue sticks

1/4″ plywood quarter sheet

Duct tape

One 1×2

3/4″ Brad nails

Step 1

Secure a zip tie to the bottom of each bamboo trellis to make the loop. This can also be done with twist ties but I felt like it was easier and tighter when using the zip ties. Trim the excess off of the zip tie.

Step 2

Arrange your bamboo on the ground to your specific design. Depending on the placement of your bed you may want a perfect arch. In my case I had the bed in the corner of a room so I wanted to make the arch more fanned out to one side. You can really get creative here and create whatever design you want!

Step 3

Once you get the design you desire, you will need a 1/4″ piece of plywood to make the half circle that you secure all of the bamboo to. I was able to use a scrap board I had on hand. Lay it below your design and measure the length and width you will need in order to cover the zip ties to get your rectangle piece. Then using a pencil free hand an arch that goes with your layout and use a jigsaw to cut the arch out.

Step 4

Use hot glue to attach each of the bamboo loops to the back of the half circle piece of plywood. This will not secure them but it will be good enough to keep them in place for you to flip the entire thing over. Once flipped I covered them with duct tape, then cut little blocks from scrap 1x2s to fit between each of the loops and brad nailed those down. I also found that brad nails easily secure the bamboo as well so I added some to those as well.

Step 5

Once those are secured you will take the cane webbing or burlap and start attaching it to the back border of the bamboo using hot glue. I would put about 12″ of hot glue and then attach the material until it was all covered. Then take scissors and trim the excess off. I found holding the scissors at an angle got it really close so that strands didn’t show when looking from the front.

Step 6

Flip it over and now you can decide if you want to paint, stain or cover the base arch with material. I chose to white wash it and then added a strand of eucalyptus leaves across the top. When hanging you want to make sure you secure it to the studs. Lastly, I found this adorable sign for 5 bucks at 5 below and thought it would be perfect for the middle.

Total cost for me to build this was $30! Any questions drop them below and I hope you found this helpful!
