DIY Easy Bath Caddy to turn your tub into a retreat!

A simple way to elevate your bathroom is to create a bath caddy!  You can get way more technical and fancy things up with different materials or moulding.  However, I wanted to show how you can easily get the same vibe by using inexpensive material with this easy quick project, anyone can tackle!  I made this in under an hour and I promise you can too!

Materials:

Step 1:

Measure the distance across your tub from outer edge to outer edge.  This will be the length you cut your 1×8 board.  If you want a larger surface you can use a wider board as well.  Also if you have a free standing tub, it can be made longer to hang off the edge.

Step 2:

Place the cut 1×8 on your tub at the position you would like it to sit.  Take a pencil and scribe a line on the bottom of the board at both sides of the inner part of the tub.  This will be where you attach 2x2s to prevent it from falling off the tub.

Step 3:

Cut two 2×2 pieces the length of the top board.  So if you went with a 1×8 like me, your 2×2 pieces will need to be 7.25″ long (actual width of a 1×8).  Sand all three cut boards and stain/paint them prior to assembling.

Step 4:

You will use wood glue and a pin nailer to secure them to the bottom of the board on the inner side of the scribed lines.  Be sure to seal them with a polyurethane as well!

Last is the most satisfying part, styling! A candle, little plant or whatever you feel would be the most usefull for you!  Sit back and enjoy a bubble bath using your new caddy!  I may add a little more detail similar to the Herringbone table I created, but for now I love it!
