You want to upgrade a bathroom vanity space but not break the bank? I will show you how you can do so in just a day or weekend with a few minor upgrades. I did this project for my brother and sister in law while they were gone camping one weekend. They had just paid to have the shower in their main bathroom completely redone and the vanity just outside the pocket door was not up to speed with the newly designed shower.
Never underestimate the power of paint and changing out the “jewelry” in a space! I linked everything below along with the full budget breakdown.
The quick and direty explanation of what I did was to install beadboard on the back wall. Bring in a new mirror, shelving and cabinet hardware. Along with upgrading the existing faucet, light fixture and vanity paint! Below is a mockup I made before to ensure it looked right! I use Canva to create my mood boards and it is such a helpful tool if you are a visual person like me.
Everything listed below is what was used. We only bought quarts of the paint ($21.98/each) colors and have a bunch left over. We also bought the mirror slightly cheaper because we found it at Home Goods. You can click on the pictures below to get a direct link to the items!
Total Cost:
- Beadboard: 27.98
- Light Fixture: $89.98
- Faucet: $99.00
- Shelves: $17.82
- (7) Cabinet Hardware: $34.86
- Hinges (10 but only needed 8): $15.98
- Mirror: $69.99
- Cabionet Paint: $21.98
- Beadboard Paint: $21.98
- Tools, wood filler, glue, etc I had on hand!
Total: 399.57
Not too bad for a day of work! Let me know if this is something you would tackle, and if you think this is a fair price tag! Don’t ever think you can’t upgrade a space without ripping it down to the studs. A few minor tweaks can make a big difference!
